Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have started a new school year at Lambrook School—likely their last together, as George is expected to attend Eton College next year.
After a summer spent largely out of the spotlight at Anmer Hall, the Wales children are now back to school, while Prince William and Kate Middleton resume royal duties. George and Charlotte joined their parents at Wimbledon in July, while Louis, 7, made memorable public appearances at Trooping the Colour and a church service in Scotland.
Later this year, the Wales family will move from Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge, a larger home on the Windsor estate. The move comes amid ongoing personal challenges, including Kate’s cancer treatment, and represents a fresh start. William and Kate see Forest Lodge as their “forever home,” where they aim to raise their children in privacy without live-in staff.
Prince William is focused on giving his children the stable and grounded upbringing he lacked. Inspired by lessons from Prince Harry’s royal exit, William and Kate are delaying discussions about their children’s royal roles to avoid creating divisions based on birth order. As royal expert Jennie Bond notes, William wants “royalty with a small ‘r’” and is committed to a private, rooted family life.
