Erika Kirk, now widowed, is continuing the legacy of her late husband Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed a few weeks ago. Since his death, she’s been open about her grief and determined to carry on his work. Erika has appeared on The Charlie Kirk Show, a program their children often watched — and recently, she revealed the touching reason why.
In a heartfelt video from Charlie’s former studio, Erika shared that she hasn’t yet told their two young children — a daughter born in August 2022 and a son born in May 2024 — the truth about their father’s death. Instead, she told them he’s “on a work trip with Jesus.”
“Charlie always wanted to be remembered for his courage and faith,” Erika said. “He loved me and our children deeply. My husband laid down his life for us and for our nation.”
Recalling a moment with their daughter, Erika said: “She asked, ‘Where’s Daddy?’ I told her, ‘He’s on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.’”
Erika also shared a sweet detail about why their daughter always watched Charlie’s show: he would bring one of her toys on set as a way to stay connected with her. “That was their little connection,” Erika said. “It meant a lot to both of them.”
