Neil Patrick Harris shares the reason why he doesn’t want to know who his biological child is

Posted on October 7, 2025 By admin

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka welcomed twins, Gideon and Harper, via surrogate in October 2010. Both men donated sperm, meaning either child could be biologically theirs — but Harris says he has no interest in finding out.

“We are their parents and I love them implicitly,” he said, adding that they each fertilized an egg, and “miraculously” both took. Harris first expressed his stance in 2014, and it remains unchanged.

As the twins recently turned 13, Harris shared a heartfelt birthday post on Instagram, calling them “the lights of my life.” He joked, “I can’t wait to watch you want nothing to do with me, and I promise I’ll be with you through all of it.”

Harris and Burtka also opened up about parenting teens, saying their kids are doing well. Despite Harris’ desire not to know, online fans continue to speculate which child looks more like whom — but for him, it doesn’t matter.
