Jesse Colin Young, frontman of the classic rock band The Youngbloods, has died at the age of 83 at his home in South Carolina.
Young was a key voice of the 1960s folk-rock counterculture movement, best known for the hit song “Get Together,” which became an anthem promoting peace and unity during the Woodstock era.
Born in 1941 in New York, Young built a career spanning more than six decades, blending folk, rock, jazz, and blues while releasing both band and solo albums. Despite health challenges later in life, including Lyme disease, he continued performing and releasing music, with his 2019 album reflecting his lifelong message of social justice and harmony.
