A high achieving family of doctors and scientists were tragically wiped out after their plane crashed en route to celebrate a birthday.
According to reports from local media outlets, the incident arose in the Catskills and Upstate New York region.
The victims were identifed as Karenna Groff who was a former MIT soccer plane and NCAA’s 2022 woman of the year.
Meanwhile, her lover and MIT graduate James Santoro was also on board, alongside her father and neuroscientist Dr. Michael Groff, and her mother and urogynecologist Dr. Joy Saini.
James’ father who is John Santoro explained to the Associated Press how they were all a wonderful family.
‘The world has lost some very good and educated people today. They were supposed to do a lot of good for the world if they got the chance. We are all personally devastated with this news’- he continued to explain in his emotional post.
The family is said to have traveled to an airport in White Plains in New York City on Saturday morning and boarded off Groff’s private plane. However, the plane crashed roughly 10 miles from the airport at 12:06 pm on Sunday as per the NTSB. The family was supposed to be coming in for a family celebration and holiday.
