Everyone has opinions, but sometimes it’s best to keep them to ourselves.
76-year-old style influencer Candace Cima recently posted a photo in a sleeveless midi dress, sparking both praise and criticism.
“People have such outdated notions about age-appropriate fashion,” Cima told TODAY. “That needs to change.”
Cima, a grandmother of 11, styled a brown knit dress with a sweater. While many admired her look, others left harsh comments, calling the outfit unflattering or inappropriate for her age.
“It’s perfectly appropriate to have wrinkled skin at 76, and I’m not ashamed of it,” Cima said. “Should I cover my face too, because I have wrinkles there?”
She launched her fashion blog in 2019 to challenge stereotypes about aging and style.
“We’ve been conditioned to cover up as we age, but that’s outdated thinking,” she said. “We need to shift how we see aging in a modern world.”
Despite the negativity, Cima remains focused on empowering women:
“Aging is great. You’re the wisest you’ve ever been. Embrace it and be proud.”
